This includes elements of everything – developmental, line and copy editing, automatically tailored to your individual needs. I prefer to highlight every single error I locate during a manuscript readthrough, whether it be on a structural, paragraph, lineal, or singular word level. The 3 in 1 edit saves you for paying for editorial services you don’t need, while ensuring every applicable error gets corrected and relevant suggestions are made for improvement.

It is ideal for a first-round edit, or for authors working within a certain budget that can only afford one round of editing. In essence, I will correct every single error I locate and make suggestions regarding every single inconsistency, leaving your manuscript as polished as I possibly can.

Copy + Line Editing Bundle

$0.016 per word

This is a combined service that focuses on correcting errors on a line and word level. It is ideal for manuscripts that have already been through developmental editing, or for more experienced authors that feel they don’t require a developmental edit and are confident in the structure of their manuscript, but still require editing for textual correctness.

For the copy edit element, I will correct spelling, grammar and punctuation errors with a focus on grammatical rules. For the line edit element, I will make suggestions on how to reword sentences to eliminate wordiness and maintain varied but effective sentence structure. I will also correct phrasing or fragment errors and suggest different word choices where revision for meaning is needed. My suggestions will aim to improve clarity and readability, avoid cliché, and appeal more to your proposed target audience.

Developmental Editing

$0.012 per word

This is traditionally the first step in editing a manuscript and focuses on ‘big picture’ plot elements like structure and organisation. Authors that have completed and published manuscripts before may choose not to have a developmental edit, as they are already confident in their ability to generate strong structures. My developmental edit will ensure the manuscript’s timeline is accurate, events flow smoothly, there are no inconsistencies, and all plot points are strong and relevant. I may also touch on characterisation if needed. Developmental edits will not correct anything on a smaller scale: no paragraph, sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, or spelling corrections.

Proofreading

$0.007 per word

This is a read through of a manuscript that has already been fully edited previously. Proofreading is the final step before publication. I also proofread works that are already published. By this stage in the editorial process, there should be very few errors left to correct, so not as much actual editing takes place during a proofread. It is more so to make sure all other editorial fixes have been done correctly and effectively and to catch any final minor typos. If you book my 3 in 1 edit or copy and line bundle, I recommend returning the manuscript to me for a proofread once you’ve revised all edits. Or, if another editor has worked on your manuscript and you want a second opinion with your proofread, I also accept submissions I haven’t worked on in the past.

Plan Feedback

$0.020 per word

This is an opportunity to get feedback on your novel/work before you even start writing it. I will review your detailed plan outline (formatted as dot points, brief chapter summaries, or in a table, not as actual written prose) and provide general feedback on broad areas like the plot, timeline, and characters. It allows you to bounce your ideas off an impartial third party with knowledge of the contemporary publishing industry, who will not be judgmental. (AKA me!)

I offer both alpha and beta reading services, however the pricing of these services will vary depending on the genre and length of your work. After an alpha/beta read, I will provide you with a 2+ page editorial report of my initial thoughts on the manuscript and any recommended alterations.

Character Profiles

+ $0.003 per word

I will create a separate document for you detailing in-depth breakdown of all information provided in your manuscript for each individual character. It will include traits and characteristics like physical appearance, background/history, family, occupation/s, likes and dislikes, and any other fact that character specific. This information can be organised and presented to your liking.

Quote Sourcing

+ $0.002 per word

I will create a separate document for you of quotes pulled from your manuscript deemed suitable for use in marketing. This can be customised depending on your advertising preferences (for example, re-writing quotes into taglines tailored to individual platforms, such as TikTok). I have a background in content creation and have worked as a social media marketer of fictional novels. Quotes can be organised to your liking, categorised either chronologically, by topic, or by character.

Each of my editing services involve a single exchange of the manuscript between author and editor (one round of editing). If you wish to return your manuscript to me for proofreading or another round of editing after you’ve revised my initial edits, additional costs will apply.
